Working Holiday visa (subclass 417) 

We’re not surprised to learn you’re dreaming spending more days travelling our great country by applying for a Working Holiday visa (WHV). The WHV gives you the opportunity to earn a wage to funs future travels, or further study whilst you are here.

Mountain Blue is an eligible partner of the Working Holiday visa, providing blueberry fruit picking opportunities, harvest holiday work to ensure your working holiday is fun and safe.

AM I ELIGIBLE FOR A WORKING HOLIDAY VISA IN AUSTRALIA?

If you’re aged between 18 and 30 (or 18 to 35 for citizens of Canada, France and Ireland) then you may be. On this page, we’ll give you all the details you need to apply for WHV subclass 417, which is what you need if you hold a valid passport for any of the following countries:

Belgium; Canada; Republic of Cyprus; Denmark; Estonia; Finland; France; Germany; Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China (including British National Overseas passport holders); Republic of Ireland; Italy; Japan; Republic of Korea; Malta; Netherlands; Norway; Sweden; Taiwan (other than an official or diplomatic passport); and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

If you hold a passport from Argentina, Austria, Chile, The People's Republic of China, Czech Republic, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Peru, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, USA, Uruguay or Vietnam, you’ll need to apply for a Work and Holiday Visa (subclass 462), for which you can find the details here.

WHAT ARE THE WORK RESTRICTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS?

The WHV requires you to work in small or longer stint jobs for a minimum of three months and a maximum of six months. This can be extended with special permission if you work for Mountain Blue but in different locations. (NOTE: Mountain Blue have several blueberry picking sites) Check out the full list of exemptions from the six-month rule here.

How to apply for work with Mountain Blue?

Our harvest season is from May until December, with our peak season being held from August-November. During that time we have blueberry picking and harvest positions available for WHV owners. To apply and express your interest in these positions, please head to mountainblue.com.au/employment and click the expressions of interest button. 462 VISA - Extending your stay in Australia?

For holders of a 462 Visa, people 18 to 30 years old (inclusive) who have chosen to extend their visa for further work and travel in Australia after their initial 417 Visa; work can continue with Mountain Blue providing a suitable position is available.
